Eat Local Baton Rouge |
Your home for local Baton Rouge food news, reviews and tips. No chain restaurants here! |
I decided to start this blog after reading the following tweet from @BrettAndersonTP, the food critic at the New Orleans Times-Picayune:
“Reason number 36,495 I don’t live in Baton Rouge: The Advocate runs positive review of Chili’s. http://tiny.cc/tCqtS (via @blackenedout)”
Shocked. I was shocked. Is this real life?
I don’t know about you, but I’m so sick and tired of people hating on Baton Rouge. But we aren’t helping much. The #6 restaurant on UrbanSpoon for our city is Texas de Brazil. A chain restaurant. And I just cannot fathom how the Olive Garden is ranked higher than Galatoire’s Bistro.
People, Baton Rouge has culture. We do. Sure, it’s not all up in your face like when you’re walking around New Orleans, but it’s there.
We have an amazing farmer’s market on Saturdays, thanks to BREADA. We have some great chefs and some high-quality restaurants. Why isn’t anyone talking about it?
Instead, we’re talking about Logan’s Roadhouse and Bennigan’s, and giving them positive reviews. So we’re here to combat that. Send us ideas! What local restaurants should we visit? Who are the most talented chefs in Baton Rouge? Who has the BEST king cake?
Send an e-mail to eatlocalbr@gmail.com and let’s get this conversation started! Our stomachs will thank us.
